Anyone else have moments where they are comparing themselves to all the other women & moms on insta? ♀️♀️
It’s true: When we compare our chapter 4 to someone else’s chapter 27, unknowingly, we are left feeling not enough – with a low self esteem to match. With social media being a platform to share every aspect of our lives, choosing to share only what we want others to see, it’s only inevitable that as humans we are going to give in to the trap that is self comparison.
One thing I would like to say and I want you to take from this post is the reminder that you are you are good enough. Read that sentence AGAIN.
See how above I referenced someones chapter 27 to your chapter 4? It is important to remind ourselves that not only is social media a way to show the parts of our lives we want, but often we do not see the hard work behind the scenes that it took for someone to get to where they are currently.
So just know, its okay if you have to unfollow someone for a while because you are not in a space to see their successes or mountaintops. That doesn’t make you jealous or unsupportive, just protecting your mental space. It is equally encouraging at times when you are needing inspiration or encouragement to intentionally follow those who will lift you up and bring you to a more positive space mentally.
Remember, you are not anyone else, which is exactly why you are uniquely and perfectly made. Those around you, love you for the qualities YOU posses, the character you show and the small things that make you who you are..changing that to be like someone else would not make you better, it would make you less like YOU.
Affirmations are positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts which ultimately help us stop playing the comparison game. When you repeat them often, and believe in them, you can start to make positive changes and find a new, strong and powerful self confidence. Its OKAY to not believe them completely at first, or struggle to find them to be true, but continue each day to look yourself in the mirror and repeat them outloud.
Here at 10 powerful affirmations to get you started:
